06.10.99 PEDC MinutesEDC Minutes of June 10,1999 Meeting The Prosper Economic Development Corporation met for its monthly meeting Thursday June 10, 1999 at 7:00 p. in. in City Hall, 109 So. Main St. There were five members present: Jim Dunmire, Jim Herlin, William Rushing, Phil Cooper and Judy Rucker. The meeting's agenda and E.D.C. Account Summary was distributed and discussed Both were approved. Items of business on the agenda were: Discussion of Project 2000. Jim Dunmire gave an update on the project chaired by Maggy Croxville. There were 750 flyers mailed out to community residents for the last Project 2000 meeting held at the Prosper Elementary School, May 25. E.D.C. 's need to make application to the U.S. Postal Service for Nonprofit Mail Rate. Judy Rucker is to make this application. Status of the community's/school's brochure. After much discussion, Phil Cooper sug,(ested that the journalism departments of TWU, CCCC, UNT and SMU be contacted to inquire of the interest of any of these departments in putting a brochure together for these entities and if interested, the cost of the project. Judy was assigned this task Design for City/School Logo Discussion. No decision Community Library in conjunction with School system Information was been received from the Northeast Texas Library System concerning the steps to be taken to establish a Community Library at the new Prosper High School . William Rushing discussed the procedure and members were given a Criteria For Membersship in Northeast Texas Library System. William and Judy were requested to form a research committee of five persons to visit other towns with similiar libraries and report back to the EDC. Grant Inquiries Four replies have been received from grant inquiries for beautification, renevations, and restoration of the downtown area but until there is a plan, there is no need to seek funds. Questions Raised Can the EDC purchase property? Do we qualify for the Texas Main Street Program: Downtown Revitalization: ? Judy to do research. Historical Committee to be Researched. It was suggested that Judy should contact 9-11 of the community's senior citizens to see if there is any interest. Proposal for EDC to purchase acreage and commit it to medical facilities. Phil Cooper has been in contact with several medical groups. EDC needs to do more research, study and collect more information before acting on this proposal.. The next monthly meeting will be Thursday, July 8 at 7:00 in City Hall, 109 Main St.
