The meeting was called to order by Jim Dunmire, Chairman.
Ane Casady and Erica Kruchenberg were introduced as new members to
the EDC board. William Rushing was thanked for his long years of
service to the city and board.
The chairman welcomed three members of the Talon staff.
Jim Kilpatrick (advisor), Samantha Wilson (editor) and Katy Callahan
(Asst. editor). Appreciation was expressed_ to the staff for their excellent
work and publication of The Prosper Times, June 30, 2000. In addition,
a motion for the E.D.C. to donate $1,000 to a scholarship fund for
students to attend the ILPC conference in Austin during the 2000-2001
year was made by Jim Dunmire, seconded by Ane Casady.Motion carried.
Also, the [:.1).C. voted to treat the 5 students, Mr. Kilpatrick, and
William and Jan Rushing, to a Medieval Time dinner with transportation
provided by a limousine service.
The consent items were approved.
Judy Rucker, Grant Researcher, gave an update on grant applications
received and the continuing work on other grants: COPS,
Community/School Library, Environmental Education Center and
gathering of historical information (report attached).
Charles Cross, E.D.C. consultant, presented the following
recommendations:
S Prosper E.D.C. purchase an ad in the summer edition of Outlook
(Texas Edition) to advertise location of Prosper on the 380 corridor.
The board committed to spend 10%-15% of annual income for
advertisement, but declined the ad for the summer edition.
■ The Prosper E.D.C. sponsor The Loop 380 Summit 2000 October
5 and 6.
Board approved Mr. Cross scheduling the meeting at First
Baptist Church. Mr. Cross will underwrite The Summit, with
no cost to the EDC. Judy Rucker will work with Mr. Cross
pertaining to catering of meals, etc.
• Approval of Judy Rucker to attend an Economic
Development Foundation meeting July 27 in Mesquite.
