Minutes Regular Meeting of the Library Board Prosper Community Library 200 South Main Street, Prosper Tx 75078 Thursday, May 17th, 2022, 6:15 pm. The meeting was called to order at 6:15pm. Board members present: Lenorah Johnson, Danielle Philipson, Jennifer Lawler, Katie Williams, Jennifer Wattenbarger & Mary Beth Randecker. Absent: Andrew Cartwright Staff. Leslie Scott Public: none 2. Consider and act upon approval of the minutes from the February 17th, 2022 library board meeting. Motioned by Lawler, second by Wattenbarger. All approved. 3. Comments by the Public None 4. Report from Library Director Welcome to Wattenbarger and Williams. Thank you for your service and support. Thank you to Lawler, Cartwright, and Philipson for assisting at the Friends Book Sale. Friends Book Sale report: $2,847 Thank you to Randecker for the delicious bagels for library week. Thank you to Johnson for Long Range Plan edits. Budget process has started: 1. additional collection funds 2. strategic assessment 3. two full-time Library Assistants 4. Koha to Aspen upgrade 5. color printer and cabinet for 2nd floor Printing — asking for fee increase this year to .20 and FY BW .25 and color .75 per sheet PT Social media specialist hired: Melissa Knaszak = 14 library staff Big Texas Summer Weekly programs M/T Discover W/R Create 10:30a — 1:30p. Same formula as last year Wiggle Wednesday, Mindful Mondays, 2x2xcraft, Tween/Teen programs Reading challenge for prize experiences: Firefighter, Police officer, bath bomb workshop at Buff City, floral arrangement workshop at Prosper Blooms for under 12 years old. CUT gift card for Tweens/Teens and Friends' Book Tote for adults. June 1- Aug 6: Brag tags for sign up, each week, and completion (no certificate this year) Fall programs launch 9/6 (after Labor Day) 4 Volunteer Academy participants. Troubling process this year and may reassess offering in the future. AC issues: Renting temporary units, postpone town hall staff escape room Gus Gus- welcomed our new library hamster. Seed Sample Library success — first flowers and then vegetables. 350 seeds passed out in April & May. We will offer again in late summer/early fall. Scott will attend ALA in DC in June for bond education opportunity Koha conference in August — Wally DesChamps if just Koha and Scott too if Aspen approved TML October San Antonio— TMLDA Robyn Battle and Scott speak/panel regarding out of the box library collaboration Library Marketing Conference in Indy in November, Scott and Karolyn Koons Monday, May 23 Behavior Challenges workshop through Collin College for library staff — will be closed — grateful to be able to close and offer. Nationwide epidemic according to TLA, listserves, and fellow professionals. Tribute Center visits reinstated 2nd and 4th Tuesday each month Body Shop May 27th Story Time on the Road Grow Cube water leak- delaying launch 5. Discussion of Library Board Business a) Vision and Mission edits discussed. E b) Policies folded into Long Rang Plan complete. c) Subcommittee for Long Range Plan will complete wording and work on the goals to be folded in and approved at next meeting. 6. Determine topics for review/discussion at future meetings. a) Board feedback to Philipson by June 30 — she will collate and send to Johnson by July 10. Johnson and Scott will meet and review mid -July. Others on review committee will review and present input. Plan will be part of August 18th meeting to approve. b) Friends — Book Sale success c) Marketing — please follow and share library's social media posts d) Appreciation — Wattenbarger will help Randecker 7.
