The. Prosper City C_ uncil unet in re;>:ular se:�sion June �Oth at 8:00 pm
in the Fire Depart:aent building.
The following were present: Mayor Roy akelton, Councilmen, Vera Clary,
R. L. Dalton Sr,_ Morris Jackson, Grady Smotherman and Danny vUebb. Also
the city_ secretary, M. P. Lridges, �'ity Marshall, U. 5pradley and
Juanice Stanton, reporter. Several other citizens were present.
Mr. Crampton and Mr. Parris of Texas Power and Light Company were present
and with the use of a slide presentation explained the reasons underlying.
the necessity for their company's request of the `'ity of Prosper to
approve an eleven per cent increase in rates which is to become effective
October 1st, 1975.
After some questions by council members, R. L. Dalton moved that the new
rate be approved - seconded by Vera Clary, motion carried by unaminous
vote.
The secretary read minutes of previb us meeting- Motion made by Danny
Webb, seconded by R. L. Dalton to approve minutes as read. motion carried,
The Mayor called attention to number of signatures required'on a permit
for anyone to move a building into the city of Prospe'r on wheeles -
which is "the mayor and at least three three"council members,,'
The secretary gave the financial report and presented outstanding bills.
Motion made by Morris Jackson, seconded by Danny Webb to approve the
report and pay the bills. Motion carried.
'.The Mayor announced a meeting of the board of Equalization to be held
30 minutes prior to the next regular council meeting. The council
members to act as members of this board. A motion to this effect was
made by Grady Smotherman, seconded by R. L. llalton, and carried.
Larry James presented plans for a carport to be attached to the west
side of his house. He asked for a permit to construct it. Motion made
by Grady 6mothermah, seconded by Morris Jackson to grant the permit,
motion carried.
V. C. '�pradley, city marshall asked that money paid to him by the city
as expense allowance, bpmbecome all salary. After duscussion by the
council members a motion was -made by Grady 6znotherman, and seconded by
Danny ',ebb to comply with Mr. Jpradleyts request. Motion carried.
Danny "ebb made a rrct/ion to ask ivir. 'pradley to keep a log of activitie s
and expenses for a period of one morith and then present this to the
council.t to justify any possible increase in salary or expense. Motion
seconded by Morris Jackson and carried.
R. L. Dalton suggested that school officials be contacted for financial
assistance in this respect since the Marshall does service for the
s chool - other than during athletic contests.
The secretary explained that a typewriter for the city office will cost
more'than-the amount discussed at the previous meeting. R. L. Dalton
moved that a typewriter be purchased, motion seconded by Danny v�ebb
and carried.

for the remainder of the year stating that the city is paying C. L.
Gother �100 per month. Motion seconded by Vera Clary. Cecil was asked
tf this would be satisfactory and he stated ;;hat it w) iild be.
The matter of giving Mr. "otcher his water bill was clearified. At the
previous meeting, at which time the council agreed to Vps-y give him
his water bill, it was interpreted as including sewer and trash pick-up
service. The Mayor stated that he meant water only. And billing for
sewer and trash pick-up to begin with the June billing.
There was discussion of resurfacing second and third streets, also
church street in front of the Methodist Church and also the portion
of third street just North of the Methodist Olaurch. There were suggestions
that property owners be contacted for contributions toward the costs.
Vera Clary stated that she would talk with those on second street, P. L.
Dalton volunteered to do the same on third street and it was also
s ug�,ested that Joyce Kincaid work the third street as area, It was;
suggested that property owners be asked to contribute $1.00 per running
foot.
The meeting dispursed - no formal action taken on the btrc.et problem.

Board of Equalization Meeting -
The Board of Equalization consisting of members of the Prosper City Council -.
R. L. Dalton Sr., Morris Jackson, Grady Saotherman and Danny Webb met July 8th,
1975 at 7:30 pm in the City Office. There were no contestants during this period
of meeting which closed at 8:00 pm.
The Prosper City Council met in regular session July 8th at 8:00 pm in the city
office with the following members present: Morris Jackson acting as Mayor Pro -Tom,
R. L. Dalton Sr, Danny Webb and Grady Smotherman. Also present was city secretary,
Mattie P. Bridges , Cecil Norris, director of public works, Jaunice Statzkon, reporter
J. T. Johnson} Jr., and Charles Niswanger.
Preceeding the regular business of the council, Johnny Johnson (J. T. Jr.) on behalf
of the First Baptist Church in Prosper asked the council for a permit to construct
a concrete dip on the South side of the Church building to be 6' wide and 90, long.
The regular meeiing Was then opened by Mayor Pro -Tom, Morris Jackson who asked for
reading of minutes of the previous meeting. Minutes were read by the city secretary.
Motion made by Grady Smotherman, seconded by Danny Webb to approve minutes. Motion
carried.
The secretary Eave the financial report and presented outstanding bills. Motion made by'
Danny Webb, seconded by R. L. Dalton to approve the report and payment of bills.
Motion carried.
The council members discussed the use of Revenue Sharing for the period of 1975-1976
- the sum of $2554.00. Motion made by R. L. Dalton, seconded by Gractr Smotherman
to use this money on the repair of streets - Motion carried.
