The Prosper City Council met in regular session January 80 1980 at 7:00 pm in the
city office with the following members present: Mayor, R. C. Boyer,; Councilmen
Dan Christie, Lonald Keneau, Grady Smothermon and Danny Webb,
The Mayor opened the meeting and called for reading of the minutes of the
preceeding meeting which were approved as read.
The Mayor read from the financial report the current balances in the various
accounts and called attention to the list of checks written during the month of
December.. The report was accepted.
Mr. Jack Crampton and Jackie Painter, representatives of Texas Power and Light
Company were present to discuss` reasons for a request of a rate increase of
20.5 percent. The request must be presented to the Texas Public Utilities
Commission for approval. The coundil suspended action on the request until the
Public Utilities Commission has passed on the ruling.�Motion to suspend the action
was made by Grady Smothermon, seconded by Danny Webb and carried by unanimous vote
with the four members present.
If the rate request is approved by the Commission, it should become effective in
July of this year.
It was agreed by the council to ask the .following men to serve as a Zoning
Commission for the city of Prosper: F. K. Mullendorep Weldon Holbrook, Johnny
T. Johnson Jr., James R. Jettle and Jim C. Spradley.
The following men were approved to serve as a census (count) committee:
Bill Loggins, F. K. Mullendore, Harold Curtis xx Larry Kruger and Dan Christie.
The cost for Workmens' Compensation insurance was presented by the Mayor.
Motion was made by Danny Webb, seconded by Dan Christie to apply for coverage.
M")TION CARRIED BY unanimous vote. The cost at present salary levels is $642XO
per ,year.
The Mayor appointed Danny Webb and Donald Reneau to serve as the budget committee.
The secretary read the letter from Lone Star Gas Company on this Company's Energy's
Residential Conservation Service Program.
The Mayor requested that the next regular meeting of the council be advertised as
a public meeting invit*g-ing citizens of Prosper to attend and express their views
on the use of Revenue Sharing Funds.
Mr. Oldham of Fire Appliance Company of Texas, Inc. was present to talk with the
council acid members of the fire department about a fire truck to meet the needs
of the city and which his edumpany could supply for the price of $45,000.00
delivered.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
