The Prosper City Council met in a special meeting August 21st, 1979 at
7:00 pm in the Water Works Building. The following members were present:
Mayor, R. C. Boyer; Councilmen Vera Clary, Donald Reneau and Danny Webb.
Absent were Dan Christie and Grady Smothermon.
The purpose of the meeting %9 to give citizens of the city an opportunity
to voice opinions; on the proposed tax increase. Twelve people besides
members of the council attended this meeting.
The Mayor explained the procedures as xeauired by the State to be followed
if taxes are to be increased. ".Fie talked from the budget, copies of which
were given to all those present.
He explained that services provided by the tax revenue could not be rendered
to the people of the city without additional revenue.
A chart was used to show just what the increase would mean to owners of
property of varying valuation.
No desenting voice was heard at this meeting.
It was announced at this meeting that another public meeting would be held
August 23th at 7:00 pm at which time the Council would cast its vote.

The Prosper City Council met August 23th, 1979 at 7:00 pm in the city office.
Members of the council present were the Mayor, R. C. Boyer; Councilmen
Vera Clary, Grady Smothermon, Danny �iebb�- Donald iteneau. Absent x2xmx was
Danz Christie.
This meeting was attended by 10 people other than members of the council.
The Mayor explained the purpose of this meeting and reasons for the proposed
tax increase. Again the budget was explained and there were questions
from some of those present as to the nexessity of increasing taxes.
After the period of questions azid answers, members of the council voted
unanimously to increase taxes for the year 1979 by 56%- which is an increase
in the rate from 900 per %100.00 valuation to 1.41 per k00.00 valuation.
The motion was made by Danny.. Webb, seconded by Grady Smothermon.
