Meeting May 31, 1979
A special meeting of the council was called for May 31st. 1979 for the purpose
of approving the revised Sewer Use Ordinance and setting the (user charges and
I to discuss the repair of streets. sevrer'
The meeting was called for 7:00 pm in the city office and was attended by all
the council members except Danny Christie. Also present were the engineer
Russell Betts, the secretary and V. C. Spradley.
Prior to this meeting the rate called for by the Ordinance was $6.75 flat rate
for residential customers and $6.75 for the first 5000 gallons plus 550 per 1000
gallons above the 5000 for the comme7cial customers.

Don Reneau presented to the council what this rate would mean to customers who
water gardens and yards extensively. He made the point that this z water does
not go into the sewer plant and suggested that a more gradual-ed rate be established.
The rate agreed upon is to be $4.00 base, plus .37 per 1000'gallons up to a
maximun of 8,000 for residential customers - The rate for commercial 'customers is
to be $4.00 base plus .37 per 1000 gallons used with special consideration for,
customers who are havey users of water not going into the plant.... such as the
ball .field and the Co -Op Gin which supplies water to farmers.
Another provision included in the ordinance is the charge of $75.00 for sewer taps.
The motion to approve the ordinance as revised was made by Vera Clary, seconded by
Danny Webb and carried by unanimous with the four members present.
Atten of the council was then turned to street repair. Funds necessary make
x0aded.xre repairs was a question. The methods of asking property owners to
participate was throughly discussed and it was agreed that this is not the best
method.
Lucian Hines had submitted a bit of a211 to repair 7th and raxvan - y
Billy Ross Pell had submitted a bid of -1.0- 'e-_ far th repair of the saxay
streets. It had been mentioned at a previous meeting that approximately $14, 000
could be appropriated from the General Fund account .
Grady Smothermon moved th,t the repairs be made on 7th and Parvin with funds on
hand- motion seconded by Don Reneau and -carried by unanimous vote with the four
members present. Lucian Hines being the low bidder was to be asked to do the
work.
There was some discussion about using money left in the bond account... no action

The meeting adjourned.
