Bridges C ity Sec ret ary April 11, 1978 The Prosper City Council met in regular session April 11, 1978 in the city office with the following members present: Mayor Roy kelton, Councilmen Vera Glary, Morris Jackson, Dan Christie, R. L. Dalton Sr., and Grady Smotherman. The Mayor opened the meeting and called for reading of minutes of the three previous meetings by the city secretary. The motion to'approve the minutes of the three meetings as read wAs made: by Vera Clary, seconded by Morris Jackson and carried by unanimous vote with all members present. The financial report and list of checks written since the last council meeting was attached to the agenda and available for all present. There was some discussion about the condition and the repairs needed on the streets. No formal action wAs taken byt it was agreed that Mr. Fowler who has done work for the city in the past should be contacted - to discuss the work. Michael Baily, newely appointed water and -sewer works operator was present and gave a breif report he had been doing. He also mentioned a school to be held in the near future would be beneficial to him to attain a liscense. The tuetition for this school is $50.000 A motion was made by Grady Smothermon and seconded by R. L. Dalton that Michael be permitted to attend the school and the city pay the tuetion. Motion carried by unanimous vote with all members present. The secretary presented a letter from the Board of Tax Assessors and Examiners stating that all assessors or appraisers must be registered and a fee of $30 charged by the Board. Morris Jackson moved thiat the city pay the fee, motion seco ded by Dan Christie and carried by unanimous vote with all members present 215 At the close of the meeting, Mayor Roy Skelton verbally tendered his resignation as Mayor due to personal health problems. The motion to accept the resignation was made by Grady Smothermon and seconded by Vera Clary with regrets. Motion carried by a vote of 4 to 1. Morris Jackson, Mayor Pro-Tem took charge of the meeting to'discuss the appointment of a person to fill the unexpired term of mayor. It was agreed that he, Morris Jackson should contact Ralph Boyer and ask if he would accept this responsibility. There being no further business, Motion to adjourn was made by R. L. Dalton Sr., seconded by Dan Christie and carried by unanimous vote with all members present. The meeting adjourned. Z'Z: �� Mattie P. Bridges 7 Secretary April 17, 1978 The Prosper City Council met in a, special. session April 17, 1978 at 8:00 pm in the city office for the purpose of appointing a mayor to fill the unexpired therm of Roy Skelton. The following were present: Councilmen Morris Jackson,Vera Clary, Dan Christie-, R. L. Dalton Sr. and Grady Smothermon. Others present were the city secretary, M. P. Bridges, Jaunice Stanton, Reporter -and Mr. Richie, reporter from the Celina Record. The Meeting was opened by Morris Jackson, Mayor Pro tem who stated the purpose for which the meeting was called and that it had been unanimously voted at the previous meeting to &sk Ralph Boyer if he'would accept the position of mayor - Mr. Boyer having consented to accept the position, Mr. Jackson called for a motion to appoint him Mayor. The motion was made by Vera Clary, seconded by Dan Christie and carried by unanimous vote with all members present. The oth of office was administered by the city -secretary after which Mr. Boyer made 4a few remarks which related to the completion of the sewer plant, the importance of an adequate ifgter supply in the future years, and maintenance and repairs of the city streets.
