01.30.1967 Town Council Minutes75 Board of Aldermen January 30, 1967 Meeting called to order by C.G. Hays,mayor of Prosper, who welcomed the guests. Rev. John Lancaster, Pastor of the Methodist Church gave the invocation. Mayor Hays introduced Woodrow Witt, chairman for meeting. Telegrams from Graham Pearcell and Ray Roberts, Congressmen were acknowledge. Rep- resentatives from Denton Chamber of Commerce, North Texas State University, Rural_Electric Cooperation, Small Business Administration, Urban Renual Development, McKinney Chamber of Commerce, Bullock Hyderpof Government Department of North Texas State University gave a very interesting talk on the development of this area --water, pollution, police, fire, trans- portation, utilities, taxes, land use, and education. Ray Smith from Small Business Administration gave a very informative talk on how to attract industry to this area. DR. H.W. Kawp from the Government Department of North Texas State University gave a very interesting talk on aid from State & Federal agencies to keep counties organize into a larger cooperative group. Meeting adjourned. low • Board of Aldermen March 10, 1967 City Council met with the following members present: Lee Gilmer, Charles Webb, B.W. Durham, C.G. Hays, and R.H. Willis. Motion made and carried that all bills be paid up to date. Motion made by Charles Bell and seconded by Lee Gilmer that City Council invite South Western Bell Telephone Company to make a survey to see that if the people of Prosper want dir- ect dialing ---Motion made by Charles Bell and seconded by R.H. Willis that the tax rate be increased from 20% to 30% of the rendition overall taxes --for purpose to improve streets, & any other to improve the city of Prosper, effective date 1967. tax rate remains the same. Motion made by Lee Gilmer and seconded by Bethel Durham that the city of Prosper adopt the by laws and revisions of the Collin, Denton of Small Cities associations. Motion made by Charles Webb and seconded by Bethal Durham that Lee Gilmer be a delegate tothe Collin, Denton Small City asso- ciation and Chester Hays be second delegate if needed in ab- sence of Lee Gilmer.
