1. Call to Order/Roll Call.
The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m.

2. Consider and act upon the April 7, 2021 Meeting Minutes (RB)
Sekou Harris made a motion and Christine Strobush seconded the motion to approve the
April 7, 2021 minutes. The motion was approved by a vote of 9-0.
3. Update on Community Picnic/ BBC) & Blues Event(Dudley Raymond, Parks &
Recreation Director)
Dudley Raymond, Parks and Recreation Director, provided an overview of the annual
Community Picnic, which has been rebranded as "Barbecue & Blues"for 2021. The
event will take place on Saturday, September 25, 2021, from 5:00-9:00 p.m. at Frontier

Park. Community partners will provide free lemonade, desserts, and hot dogs, which will
be handed out by members of the Town Council. CoSery will provide free barbecue as
the title sponsor of the event. Town staff is working on developing a well-rounded
variety of activities for families including live entertainment. The Committee provided a
few recommendations for the event, such as remote-control boats at the lake and live-
streaming parts of the event on social media. Committee members expressed an
interest in helping to promote the event and attending the event as part of the proposed
Ambassadors program.

5. CEC Ambassadors (Christine Strobush)
Christine Strobush presented information on Items 4 and 5 concurrently. She reviewed
a proposal for a Prosper Ambassadors program to support Town programs, events, and
activities and help engage Prosper residents with their local government. This can be
done through Committee members staying engaged and informed, sharing Town
information through their own social media channels and networks, and attending
community events and activities. The Committee discussed assigning CEC members to
different stakeholder groups, such as HOAs and other community organizations to
provide an additional point of contact with the Town.
The Committee discussed the possibility of kicking off the Ambassadors program in
conjunction with the BBQ & Blues event in September. Christine Strobush volunteered
to spearhead a concept for a short video promotion about the CEC to be released in
conjunction with the event. Damon Jackson will look into getting t-shirts designed for the
group. Kim Loveland will investigate other promotional items. Shy Tottress will research
upcoming events in Prosper, and Rodolfo Sierra and Brent Kirby will begin working on
an inventory of community organizations.
6. Planning Discussion for May 13 HOA Presidents Meeting (Josh Carson)
Robyn Battle reviewed the agenda for the May 13 HOA Presidents Meeting, which
includes a presentation on Communication and Community Engagement. Ms. Battle will
introduce Brent Kirby and Josh Carson, current HOA representatives, at the end of her
presentation as representatives of the Community Engagement Committee.
7. Google Survey on Strengths and Capabilities (Josh Carson)
This item was not discussed.
8. Mission Statement Discussion
The Committee discussed some of the language used in Christine Strobush's
presentation on the Ambassador program. After discussion, Rodolfo Sierra made a
motion and Maona Ngwira seconded the motion to adopt "Listen. Understand. Engage."
as the mission statement for the Community Engagement Committee.

9. Update on Recent and Upcoming Events
The Committee discussed the recent Election on May 2, the Crawfish and Cornhole
event in downtown on April 17, and the National Day of Prayer event scheduled for May
6.
10. Discuss Future Agenda Items
Potential future agenda items include a presentation on Broadband Service
Improvements, and a follow-up on the Ambassador program.
