AN ORDINANCE
REGULATING THE RATES OF THE SOUTHWESTERN BELL TELEPHONE
COMPANY IN THE CITY OF PROSPER, TEXAS
Present, U.N.Clary, Mayor, Roy Skelton, Commissioner,
W.H.Fi:1d, Commissioner.
WHEREAS, the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company has appeared
before the City Commission and has shown that it has increased its
investment devoted to rendering local exchange telephone service since
the rates now in effect were established and is now confronted with
substantial increases in taxes and other operating expenses, and
WHEREAS the Company has further shown to the City Commission
that its earnings frompresently authorized rates are inadequate to

WHEREAS continued operation of the Company' s property in
Prosper with insufficient earnings will not justify the investment
of additional capital needed to provide the additional facilities re-

tain the Company' s high standards of service, and

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY T1 CITY COi IS ION OF THE
CITY OF PROSPER:
Section 1: That the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company
is hereby authorized to place into effect on its first billing date
after final passage of this ordinance, the following schedule of rates:

Section 2: That nothing in this ordinance contained shall be
construed as in any manner, now or hereafter, limiting or modifying the
right and power of the City Commission under the law to regulate the rates
charged by the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for its service with-
in the City of Prosper.
