Minutes Regular Meeting of the Library Board Library Conference Room 200 South Main Street, Prosper, Texas Thursday, November 15, 2018, 6:15 p.m. The meeting was called to order at 6:17 p.m. Board members present: Heidi Bullock, Andy Cartwright, Lenorah Johnson, Bobbi Parry, Karey Pustejovsky, and Rhonda Thomas. Absent Mandi Jackson. PISD Liaison: Melissa Surratt was absent. Staff. Leslie Scott, Library Director. Consider and act upon approval of the minutes from the October 18, 2018, Library Board meeting. Motioned by Pustejovsky second by Party. Approved 6-0. Comments by the Public. None. Report on Library Board update. Board members are currently reviewing the first draft of the updated Long Range Plan for the Prosper Community Library. Scott is working with Johnson directly to make small corrections, updates to statistics. Members are asked to provide comments at the December meeting; goal is to have a finalized draft ready for signature in January. Board members thanked Parry, who as Vice -Chair, has served as acting Chair since Alderton's departure in May 2018. Selection of a new Chair will be considered at the December meeting. Report from PISD Librarian Melissa Surratt. Surratt was absent. Report from Library Director. Scott provided the October monthly report to members. Membership continues to grow steadily, with over 150 new members this month. Participation in programming remains extremely strong, with over 1,300 participants taking advantage of 49 library programs. The library will begin counting the number of visitors through the doors; this data will help inform a re -assessment of library hours in the spring. The library is seeking an additional library assistant; will be posting the position shortly on the Town website. Page 1 of 2 The Friends of Prosper Community Library will be hosting a book sale in the community room this coming weekend, November 16-17, 2018; in addition to the books, a number of high -end children's swivel chairs have been donated and will be available for purchase. Funds raised from the sale may be directed towards summer prizes for the reading program, as well as other items in support of the library's efficiency and usability, such as a new Integrated Library System, a mobile check-out station, and an autonomous vacuum to help manage cleanliness in the community room between programs. The library is collecting unwrapped toys which will be donated to Cornerstone as part of their Christmas gift drive. Scott informed Board members that she would be presenting the annual library update to Town Council on December 11, 2018, at 6:00pm; Board members were encouraged to attend. 7. Determine topics for review/discussion at future meetings. Board members will discuss the selection of a new Chair as well as the draft Long Range Plan at the December meeting. Continued discussion on establishing a Library Foundation will resume once the renewed Friends is fully running. 8. Informational Items. Next meeting will be December 20, 2018, at 6:15 p.m. 9.
