Transportation Regional Transportation Council
Transportation &Regional Transportation Council
The Transportation Department at NCTCOG serves as staff to the Metropolitan Planning Organization
(MPO)for the 12-county Dallas-Fort Worth region.
NCTCOG,which serves as the MPO,works closely with regional, state and federal partners to plan and
recommend transportation projects that will improve mobility and encourage more efficient land use,
all while minimizing the impact on the region's air quality.
The Regional Transportation Council (RTC)is the transportation policy body of the MPO.
The RTC’s 45 members consist of local elected or appointed officials from the metropolitan area and
representatives from each of the area’s transportation providers.
The RTC oversees the metropolitan transportation planning process.
