01.25.2000 Town Council Minutes (Special)Special City Council Meeting Tuesday, January 25, 2000 City Hall — 109 S. Main 7:00 P.M. 'l"h'qsg Pr'es,elit: Mayor Pro -Tern Jim Dunmire, Janet Phillips, and Charles Niswanger. Stephen Coffman and Larry Tracey were absent. Call to order: Jim Dunmire called the meeting to order. Action oax,equest for variance for 102 Oak Glen court in stone Creek: Motion by Jim Dunmire and seconded by Janet Phillips to approve the variance. Motion carried. APP-auvil of lots for.ye-plat in Gentle creek Estates: Tabled until the February 8, 2000 council meeting. Action on request for variance from Larry,James for buildina, on W. Broqdw,1y: Shelton Boone, attorney for Larry James, was present. Mr. Boone stated that he was representing Mr. James and he was not asking the City for a variance. Mr. Boone and Mr. James were only asking for permission to proceed with the construction of the building. The council agreed to let Mr. James proceed with the construction of the building. The council did recommend that the building be 100% brick on the front only (North side). The remaining sides (East, West, and South) could be of a metal exterior and did not have to be masonry. Also, the council recommended that the roll -up door be removed from the building and only a walk-in front door be installed. Charles Niswanger will speak with Mr. James immediately regarding the council recommendation. The issue will be back on the February 8, 2000 agenda as an action item for granting a variance. No action was taken. Work Session with Ronnie Tucker -discussion on goqj,ftg_city t: Ronnie Tucker was present and met with the council to discuss goals for the fire dept. and city. Ronnie and the council will put together a committee to work on a bond election. The bond election will possibly include a new fire station, EMS service with two ambulances, a police department, a new Municipal Complex, and possible renovation of the current city hall budding to be converted into police headquarters. Ronnie Tucker will work on the cost estimates for the new Fire and EMS facility and report back to the council. The E.D.C. will also look for grants for funding these new projects.
