Tuesday, February 6, 20017:00 p.m.
Those Present: Mayor Coffman, Jim Dunmire, Charles Niswanger, Larry
Tracey, Janet Phillips and Michael Perry.
Call to order: Mayor Coffman called the meeting to order.
Si)ecial Meetina between City Council and P.I.S.D. School Board: Mr.
Rushing, Phil Cooper, Wanda Gammons, Robert Reynolds, Chuck Stuber, and
Pat Cangelosi were present. They presented items to the council for
discussion.
Library — The E.D.C. and Ms. Sharps has been working on the community
library. Will try to have open by summer. Need employees.
Housing Developments — The Council presented the school board
members with a detailed description of the housing developments currently
under construction and to begin in the near future.
Parks — School Board wants to co -develop athletic facilities for the school
and community to use. The E.D.C. has coordinated a sports authority to
work on these issues. Will begin meeting on a regular basis to develop future
plans for recreation facilities.
Rolicg_Qepartm,ent — The City has a committee working on hiring a Chief
of Police. City bought a police car from Frisco. Reserve officers will work the
hours that the Chief is off. City hired a Municipal Judge several months ago.
Water line connection between Prosper Elementary and First BaQt st
Church — The Baptist Church needs an 8" water line for a sprinkler system.
The Elementary School is on the end of a dead-end line. Mr. Dunmire
proposed to the School tying the two lines together (looping) to provide
better service for both areas. Line needs to be in place by August.
Community Proaram on Teenagers — The school is starting a program for
families, students and the community on Alcohol awareness and abuse
amongst teens. Mr. Rushing invited the City and future Police Department to
become involved in the program.
Action on aDDroval of goina out for bids on Water Wells #6. #7. and #8
Action on approval of aoina out for bids on two (2) -ground storage tanks
Motion by Larry Tracey and seconded by Janet Phillips to go out for bids on
the three water wells and two storage tanks. Motion carried.
Discussion on imorovements of CR 78 — The council discussed the future of
CR 78 and new housing developments along the road. Discussed pooling the
monies from developers to concrete CR 78 once all construction is complete.
