Work Session of the Prosper Town Council

1. Call to Order/Roll Call. Mayor Dunmire called the meeting to order at 6:41 pm. Councilmen present:
Mayor Jim Dunmire, Larry Tracey, Charles Niswanger and Russell Kaker. Mayor Pro -Tem Jeff Walker
arrived at 6:49pm, and Michael Perry arrived at 6:44pm. Also present: Town Administrator Jennifer
Finley, Administrative Assistant Kelly Reed and Town Secretary Amber Phillips_
2. Review and discuss items posted on the April 8, 2003, Regular Council Agenda. Michael Perry
expressed concern regarding the changing of some of the road names. He felt comfortable about the

changes, as it was being "rushed". Ms. Finley explained that she had been contacted by Collin County
requesting that the road names be changed; therefore, she did not feel that it was being "rushed, and it
would provide the Town the ability to enforce its speed limits and stop signs throughout these particular
areas. She also stated that Celina was changing SH289 to Preston Rd. through Celina, and Frisco refers
to SH289 as Preston Rd. as well. Council agreed to post an item on the next agenda changing SH289 to
Preston Rd. through Prosper. They also felt it would be appropriate to rename BUS289 to Coleman in the
next Council Meeting.
Council questioned the renaming of CR5 to Settle Rd. and CR73 to Lover's Lane. They asked Ms. Finley
to check with lI Celina on the name of CR5 (Par vii I fF1d.) through Celina.
Council agreed to rename CR77 to Hays Rd. rather than Gentry Rd.
Ms. Finley stated that Item "z." should read CR81 rather than CR79.
3. Review and discuss the following department/committee reports:
a. Police Department

C. Prosper E.D.C.

d. Parks & Recreation Committee
(packet item #28)
Darin Riggs, Parks & Recreation Chairman, presented Committee Report to Council. He advised that they
were about to incur approximately $2,000.00 in unplanned expenses surrounding Main Street Park.
Darin stated that thig Committee would soon be entering into an agreement with Jones & Boyd for a joint
project with the Prosper Elementary School.
4. Ad'ourn. Mayor Dunmire adjourned the meeting at 7:06pm.
