The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. Board Members Present: Daniel Knox, Chair Bob Benson, Vice Chair Kimberly Shamsy Kari Castro Kyle LaFerney MINUTES Parks and Recreation Board Meeting Prosper Town Hall, Council Chambers 250 W. First Street, Prosper, Texas Thursday, March 13, 2025 6:00 PM Staff Members Present: Dan Baker, Director of Parks and Recreation Kurt Beilharz, Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation Matt Furr, Parks Superintendent Kaylynn Stone, Special Events Manager Trevor Helton, Recreation Manager Talia Stevenson, Senior Administrative Assistant Consider and act upon the minutes of the January 29, 2025, Joint Parks and Recreation Board and Community Engagement Committee Meeting. Motion to approve by Castro, seconded by Benson. Motion approved 5-0. Consider and act upon the minutes of the February 13, 2025, Parks and Recreation Board meeting. Motion to approve by Castro, seconded by Shamsy. Motion approved 5-0. Comments from the public. Resident Kent Elliot spoke regarding changing the name of Parvin Park. Receive staff updates: Special Events, Recreation, Park Development, Park Operations, and Director. Stone presented the 2025 Special Events Calendar and Special Event updates: Page 1 of 3 Prosper On Tap! May 10tn: Blooms and Bubbly. Fishing Derby Update: An estimated 300 people braved the cold to attend the Prosper Fishing Derby at the Frontier Park pond on February 22. The Derby featured a youth fishing competition for Most Fish Caught and prizes were awarded in several age categories for ages 14 and under. A special thank you goes to the Prosper High School Bass Fishing Team and to Title Sponsor PondMedics for their generous support! Helton provided updates on recreation: Summer Programs: Registration is open for Summer Camps and classes that start May 27tn Mayor's Coffee: Held on Wednesday, March 12th at Prosper Fire Station #2. Active Adult Day Trip: Regstering for the active adult day trip to Jefferson City. The trip will take place on March 261, 7:30AM-7:30PM. Heroes & Helpers Program: Prosper Parks & Recreation recognizes the Heroes and Helpers who selflessly serve our community! In thanks, a 10% discount is extended on classes and activities to all active military, veterans, first responders and Prosper ISD employees. Beilharz provided updates on park development: Raymond Community Park: Work on the restroom / concession building is approx. 75% complete. Moisture Conditioning for the pickleball and tennis courts is underway. Irrigation work is more approx. 75%. The playground equipment is ready for delivery. Playground details are being worked out. Frontier Park, Erosion Control: Construction is completed. The project is scheduled to be complete before the Fishing Derby. The contractor is working on erosion control improvements to the bridge over Doe Branch Creek in the Doe Branch Property. Project completion expected by summer 2025. Doe Branch Community Park Master Plan: Kimley-Horn is under contract. Staff met with the consultant for a kick-off meeting. A site walks is scheduled for March 14, tomorrow.
