2. Hot Topics with Mayor David Bristol (DB)
Mayor Bristol detailed an experience he had recently where he was speaking to a
government class at Prosper High School. He mentioned that many of the students
did not know that the Mayor's Youth Advisory Council existed and asked how the
current council knew about it. The Council mentions word of mouth and the school
newsletter as the main sources. Mayor Bristol urges the Council to help spread the
word of MYAC to friends and classmates. Mayor Bristol also spoke on the upcoming
Red Kettle Challenge for the Salvation Army and detailed how he and others from
town leadership would be ringing the bell on Saturday, December 14th. As his final
hot topic, Mayor Bristol announced the new weekly bulk trash pick up to come in
2025. He said this initiative came from resident feedback and Town Council recently

voted to adjust from monthly to weekly bulk trash pick up.

4. Consider and Act upon the minutes of the November 20, 2024, Mayor's Youth
Advisory Council meeting (MP)
Om Gaddad made a motion and Joshua Hart seconded the motion to approve the
November 20, 2024 Mayor's Youth Advisory Council minutes. The motion was
approved unanimously.
5. Municipal Government Careers and Degree Plans with Ted Benavides (TB)
Ted Benavides, Professor of Practice of Public and Nonprofit Management at the
University of Texas at Dallas, spoke to the Mayor's Youth Advisory Council. He
detailed different degree plans available at the university that can lead to municipal
career opportunities such as government leadership, international affairs, nonprofit
management, education and more.
6. Tour of Central Fire Station (SB)
Battalion Chief Diliberto gave a brief background of Prosper Fire Rescue and gave
the Mayor's Youth Advisory Council a tour of the award winning fire station.
7. MYAC Subcommittees (WH)
Mr. He proposed the creation of two subcommittees within the council: a public
relations committee and a community engagement/volunteer committee. Ms.
Rodriguez made a motion to vote for the creation of these subcommittees. Ms.
Lowry seconded the motion. It was unanimously approved by the council.
