05.11.2023 Park Board PacketTHE PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD MEETING May 11, 2023 Call to Order / Roll Call Welcome Kim Shamsy Consider and act upon approval of the minutes from the April 13, 2023 Parks and Recreation Board meeting. Comments by the Public. Receive staff updates: Recreation, Park Development, Park Operations, and Director. Recreation Update •Mayor’s Fitness Challenge •P-Town Throwdown •Cinco de Mayo recap •Summer camps •PYSC Quarterly meeting Park Development: Pecan Grove Park The playground, pavilion, trail, and bridge are all fully complete. Next steps are completing retaining walls and sod planting. Overall, the project is at 90% completion. Staff is working on a water pump replacement for the irrigation system. Park Development: Tanners Mill Park The park development project is 99% complete. The contractor has finished minor punch list items and is working to get the turf better established before we open the park to the public. We expect to open the park next week. Park Development: Star Meadow Park This park development project is substantially complete, and the contractor is working to finish up a few minor cosmetic punch list items. The park is open to the public for use. Park Development: Raymond Community Park •Town Engineers asked for adjustments to the proposed entry points to eliminate potential traffic congestion. The CMAR will be working on costing to get to the GMP by the end of summer. •Design Development April – June 2023 •Construction Docs July – October 2023 •Bid Phase November 2023 - Construction Phase TBD Park Development: Downtown Park •The consultant has delivered the preliminary master plan. Staff requested a few minor adjustments. The final master plan should be delivered to staff before the end of June. Park Development: Downtown Park •These are example images of proposed elements in the master plan. These include a themed playground, a gazebo, fishing pier, pickleball court and other improvements.
