Rutherford Park Update
Location meets needs identified through the Parks Open Space Master Plan
•Estimated 5100+ residents
•3.5+ acres of programmable open space

•Hike and bike trails with park connection
•Adjacent to 15-acre pond (not Town owned)

Recreation: Christmas Festival

•Over 6,000 event goers
•Major attractions included:
•Santa’s Workshop, Horse-drawn carriage
•Kids Christmas Shoppe, Santa’s Selfie Station
•Community Stage, Kids Zone with inflatables and games
•Over 90 booth spaces

Park Development:
Pecan Grove Park
The contractor has
completed the installation of
the erosion control devices,
the tree protection device,
and the staking for the hike
and bike trail layout.
Construction entrances have
been placed.
Park Development:
Tanners Mill Park
Basketball court and goals,
park monument sign, and
two backstops have been
installed. Pavilion structure
has been installed and the
contractor continues with the
installation of the masonry
wrap for the pavilion column.
Park Development:
Star Meadow Park
Playground equipment has
been installed. The contractor
has begun the installation of
the pavilion. Some grading
around the drop-inlet has
been done.
Park Operations:
•Installed river rock in Town Hall landscape beds
•In process of trimming trees
•Soccer fields are in process of being prepped. Leagues have experienced
delays due to weather.
•Cleaning up disk golf area after flooding
•Started the application of ant bait
•Inventorying plants that were damaged due to extreme summer and
winter weather.
•Waiting to see which ones will leaf out
•Will develop plan to replace those which were severely impacted
