First Street, Prosper, Texas Thursday, May 11, 2023 6:00 PM 2. Consider and act upon the minutes of the April 13, 2023 Parks and Recreation Board meeting. Motion to approve by Benson, Seconded by Little. Approved 6-0. 3. Comments from the public. There were no comments from the public. 4. Receive staff updates: Recreation, Park Development, Park Operations, and Director. Recreation: • Mayor's Fitness Challenge's session one ends in June. • Cinco de Mayo event hosted over 500 attendees on Saturday, May 6, 2023. • P-Town Throwdown (Pickleball Tournament) will take place June 3 at Reynolds. • Summer camps will start May 301n • Moonlight Movie will be scheduled for August 11, 2023. PYSC Quarterly meeting was hosted Tuesday, May 2, 2023. Metcalf stated that a board member has typically been involved with those meetings and asked if that would be something PYSC would be interested in. Brandon asked what the Fall dates of the Mayor's Fitness Challenge were. Helton stated that the Fall season will start in September and run through November. Helton will bring more information on the Mayor's Fitness Challenge next meeting. Benson thanked the department for the events and asked for a newsletter for the HOA Board Presidents. Park Development: Page 1 of 3 Pecan Grove Park: The playground, pavilion, trail, and bridge are all fully complete. Next steps are completing retaining walls and sod planting. Overall, the project is at 90% completion. Staff is working on a water pump replacement for the irrigation system. Tanners Mill Park: The park development project is 99% complete. The contractor has finished minor punch list items and is working to get the turf better established before we open the park to the public. We expect to open the park next week. Star Meadow Park: This park development project is substantially complete, and the contractor is working to finish up a few minor cosmetic punch list items. The park is open to the public for use. Raymond Community Park: Town Engineers asked for adjustments to the proposed entry points to eliminate potential traffic congestion. The CMAR will be working on costing to get to the GMP by the end of summer. Knox asked the completion date. Baker stated starting in 2024. Downtown Park: The consultant has delivered the preliminary master plan. Staff requested a few minor adjustments. The final master plan should be delivered to staff before the end of June. These are proposed elements in the master plan: a themed playground, a gazebo, a fishing pier, a pickleball court and other improvements. Benson asked the acreage of the park. Beilharz started roughly 5-6 acres. Park Operations: • In a joint effort between PISD & Windsong HOA, Park Operations removed all wood fiber from the playground. It was replaced by Poured -In -Place safety surfacing. • Ongoing plant replacement will take place around the town and Town Hall. • The Prosper leagues sports seasons will wrap up by the end of May and the fields will transfer into the maintenance season. Director.- • Budget Update: Budget numbers were submitted to finance on May 151n • CAPRA Update: The CAPRA Accreditation Reviewers will be here May 24 — May 25. • P-Town Throwdown will take place on June 3, 2023, at 8:30 a.m. at the Reynolds Middle School Tennis Courts. • Freedom Fest discussions are taking place, this event is hosted by a third -party company and features Coffey Anderson. • Plant Replacement will be taking place on the north side of Town Hall. • Active Shooter Training will take place at the June 81h Parks and Recreation Board Meeting.
