revenues from properties on the tax roll in the preceding year by 12.29 percent.

attorney/special counsel as authorized by the Texas Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code, §551.001, et

Description of Agenda Item:
According to Local Government Code Chapter 102 and the Town Charter, the Town must hold a
Public Hearing on the proposed budget.

from the community and provide Town staff with direction on any changes to the proposed

Conduct a Public Hearing to consider and discuss a proposal to increase total tax revenues
from properties on the tax roll in the preceding tax year by 12.29 percent.
Description of Agenda Item:
According to the Property Tax Code Section 26.05(d), the Town is required to hold two public
hearings and publish newspaper ads before adopting a tax rate that exceeds the effective rate
or rollback rate, whichever is lower. The second Public Hearing is scheduled for September
10th at the next regular Town Council meeting to comply with Truth in Taxation parameters.

Please read the statements below prior to opening the Public Hearing:
This is the first of two public hearings to discuss the
FY 2013-2014 proposed tax rate. The second Public
Hearing will be held on
September 10, 2013, at 6:00 p.m.,
at the Prosper Municipal Chambers
located at 108 W. Broadway, Prosper, Texas.
The Town Council will vote on both the FY 2013-
2014 Proposed Budget and the proposed tax rate at a
meeting scheduled on September 24, 2013, at 6:00 p.m.,
located at the Town of Prosper Municipal Chambers at
108 W. Broadway, Prosper TX.
Once the Public Hearing is opened, the public is
encouraged to express their views.

I make a motion to open the Public Hearing to consider and discuss a proposal to
