09.16.14 Library Board Minutes1. FA 4. 5. 6. riS OWN OF PER Prosper is a place where everyone matters. Call to Order / Roll Call. Minutes Regular Meeting of the Library Board Reynolds Middle School - Community Library 700 N Coleman Road, Prosper, Texas Tuesday, September 16, 2014, 6:00 pm. The meeting was called to order at 6:00pm by Library Board Chair, Sherilyn Bird. Present: Chair, Sherilyn Bird, Lucy Towle and Roger Flood. PISD Liaison present included, Richelle O'Neil. Staff present included: Library Director, Leslie Scott. Public present included: Janet Hudson, Jennifer Stice, Amber Bowden, Jamie Pouster. Consider and act upon approval of the minutes from the July 15, 2014, Library Board meeting. Motion to approve by Bird accepted by acclimation. Approved 3-0. Comments by the Public. Bird asked public members to introduce themselves. Hudson asked about places and terms and Scott explained the staggering of years, so not all members are on same year. Bird emphasized the growth of the Board is a positive move for the Board and community. O'Neil is now a PISD liaison, Flood is leaving the Board to concentrate on Friends of the Library responsibilities, and Towle is continuing her appointment. Report on Library Board update. New Library'Board members will be official on October 1, 2014. Those members in attendance voiced their interest in areas of the Library. Brown/reading groups, Hudson/audiobooks, growth of Town, and braille books, Stice/children's programs, and Pouster/Librarian looking to share her knowledge of libraries. Report from PISD District Librarian Richelle O'Neil. O'Neil is working with Scott to pull apart school/community collection in the Destiny system. Report from Library Director Leslie Scott. Statistic reports presented. End of fiscal year less than two weeks, all funds being spent accordingly. September new programs: Tuesday night Storytime, I" Thursday of each month. Community Storytime, and Thursdays through remainder of month at Lighthouse Church. September 4, 2014, at Whispering Farms Equestrian Center was very successful with 24 children and 16 adults in attendance. Town Council presentation on Tuesday, September 26, 2014, went well. A review of past 100 days accomplishment and the Library's success was presented. No word on new budget year yet. Page 1 of 2 Currently changing all spine labels and updating barcodes, and pulling Community's children non-fiction from school's collection and correcting. Advantage 2.0 with Overdrive just approved and sent this week. Scott is expecting to begin ordering live -stream movies the first week of October. Texas Snapshot day participation will take place October 25, 2014, during the book sale and children's crafts. 7. Present program calendar for October. Scott presented to copy to the Board. The Book sale is being advertised with flier creations and press alerts. 8. Present ILS quotes and URL. Scott asked to table until new Library Board members join in October and budget is approved. 9. Determine topics for review/discussion at future meetings. The next Board meeting will be Tuesday, October 21, 2014, at 6:00 pm. Policy review, ILS update, Town's multipurpose building, how is Board responding to growth, and review bylaws. Board will discuss current meeting time of 3rd Tuesday of the month at 6:00 pm and determine if this will continue to be the meeting time and place. Robyn Battle will be present at 5:45 pm to complete paperwork and oath. 10. Informational Items. Flood said Friends of the Library provide funding to the Library. They currently have over $4500 to purchase items for the Library and are open to suggestions. Scott and Sharon Alderton, Children's Librarian are preparing a list of items. 11. Adjourn.
