RESOLUTION NO. 11-024
A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF PROSPER,
TEXAS, DESIGNATING AN ELECTION DAY POLLING PLACE WITHIN
THE ELECTION PRECINCT WITHIN THE TOWN OF PROSPER, TEXAS
FOR ELECTIONS ORDERED; PROVIDING FOR PRE -CLEARANCE AND
ALL OTHER NECESSARY ACTIONS; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, the Town Council of the Town of Prosper, Texas (the "Town Council") has
investigated and determined that it will be advantageous and beneficial to the Town of Prosper,
Texas ("Prosper") and its inhabitants to designate election day polling place(s) within the
election precinct(s) within Prosper for all elections ordered by the Town Council; and
WHEREAS, one (1) election precinct known as Precinct lhas been created in Prosper by
lawful adoption of Prosper Ordinance No. 11-023; and
WHEREAS, by this Resolution, it is the intention of the Town Council to designate an
election day polling place within the election precinct; and
WHEREAS, changes in precincts constitute a change from prior practices requiring pre-
clearance under the Federal Voting Rights Act.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN
OF PROSPER, TEXAS:
SECTION 1: FINDINGS INCORPORATED. The findings set forth above are
incorporated into the body of this Resolution as if fully set forth herein.
SECTION 2: DESIGNATION OF ELECTION DAY POLLING PLACES: The polling
place within the election precinct within Prosper, shall be as follows:
Precinct 1
Community Library
Reynolds Middle School
700 N. Coleman Road
Prosper, Texas 75078
SECTION 3: SUBMISSIONS TO THE UNITED STATES JUSTICE DEPARTMENT:
The Town Secretary of the Town of Prosper, or her authorized agent, shall make such
submissions as are necessary to the United State Justice Department to seek pre -clearance
approval.
SECTION 4: NECESSARY ACTIONS: The Mayor and the Town Secretary of Prosper,
in consultation with the Town Attorney, are hereby authorized and directed to take any and all
actions necessary to comply with the provisions of the Code, the Texas Election Code and any

other state or federal law in carrying out and designating polling placing, whether or not
expressly authorized herein and all actions previously taken are hereby ratified
SECTION 5: EFFECTIVE DATE. This Resolution shall become effective immediately
upon its passage.
DULY PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF
PROSPER, TEXAS on this 8th day of March, 2011.
