03.19.2015 Parks & Rec MinutesISPER OWN OF Prosper is a place where everyone matters. 1. Call to Order / Roll Call. Minutes Regular Meeting of the Parks and Recreation Board 108 W. Broadway St., Prosper, Texas Town of Prosper Municipal Chambers Thursday, March 19, 2015, 6:00 p.m. The meeting was called to order at 6:01 pm by Chair, Barbara Cottone. Roll call taken by Chair, Barbara Cottone. Board members present included: Chair, Barbara Cottone; Secretary, Jennifer Severance; Jeffery Hodges and Keith Yellin. Vice -Chair, Mandy Goddard; Drake Dunn and Craig Andres were absent. Staff present included: Hulon Webb, Executive Director of Development and Community Services; Paul Naughton, Landscape Architect; Will Mitchell, Parks and Recreation Manager; Julie Shivers, Recreation Coordinator and Matt Furr, Parks Superintendent. Council members included: Council member Kenneth Dugger. 2. Consider and act upon approval of the minutes from the February 12, 2015, Parks and Recreation Board meeting. Motioned to approve by Severance, seconded by Yellin. Approved 4-0. 3. Comments by the Public. Jack Dixon and Cap Perry spoke on agenda item 5. 4. Consider and act upon the naming of the Tanners Mill Park Property. Naughton presented the location of the park within the development. Naughton also provided a list of possible names for the park. The Board chose Tanners Mill Park would be appropriate. Motioned by Hodges, seconded by Yellin. Approved 4-0. 5. Consider and act upon the approval of the veteran's memorial conceptual design, and to recommend a location for the veteran's memorial. Dixon went over the veterans memorial conceptual design plan. Cottone recommended that the consultant designing the park recommend the location within the park. The PARB'd were concerned with the veterans memorial conceptual design and asked for more information to be provided. The PARB'd requested the item be split with recommending the location of the veterans memorial to be at Sexton Park, and the approval of the veterans memorial conceptual design. PARB'd voted on the recommendation of the location of the veterans memorial to be located at Sexton Park. The recommendation was motioned by Yellin, seconded by Severance. Approved 4-0. The veterans memorial conceptual design was tabled to the April 9, 2015, Park and Recreation Board meeting. Page i of 2 6. Informational items. Mitchell recognized Furr for his assistance in helping a fellow employee that flipped his truck during the bad weather after work hours and Furr was able to take his personal tractor to pull the truck out of the ditch. Shivers introduced Mitch Burgdorf, the new Recreation Intern. Shivers gave an update on the Trout Derby and informed about the upcoming Lunch with the Easter Bunny program. Mitchell reminded about the Parks Open Space Master Plan meeting on Thursday, March 26, 2015, at 6pm. 7. Adjourn. Motioned by Hodges, seconded by Yellin to adjourn. Approved 4-0.
